The Inspired Cycle Engineering Sprint FS trike.At Cycle Monkey, we build a fair number of wheels for recumbents using the Rohloff SPEEDHUB and also outfit many recumbents with Schlumpf gearing systems. Recumbent trike and bike riders have an affinity for the Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 and Schlumpf Innovations Speed Drive because of the large gear range and durability of these systems.
Two trips to New York a week apart, two bike shows, the largest organized bike ride in the US, good food, and lots of people meant for a busy week and a half. Just two days after returning home from the New Amsterdam Bicycle Show, we ended up back in the Big Apple for Bike Expo New York. Katie and I loaded up the bikes this morning with everything for our booth at the New Amsterdam Bicycle Show and pedaled the 6 miles from northern Washington, DC to Union Station where we met the Bolt bus. The cargo bike was pretty squirrely with all the weight, and the turning radius was drastically increased because the handlebars were hitting the large box on the platform. The bike also felt a lot slower than usual and was far less nimble in traffic.
Cycle Monkey had a busy three days in Sacramento during the 2012 edition of NAHBS. This year's show was the biggest to date with over 8100 attendees and 171 exhibitors. Friday was busy, Saturday was very busy, and Sunday was steady. There were many beautiful bikes on display, though we didn't get to see the whole show because it was difficult to get away from the booth.
